Rashard Robinson recovers fumble in loss

Rashard Robinson had four tackles including two solo and one for a loss while also forcing and recovering a fumble in yesterday's loss to Carolina.

Fantasy Impact

Robinson had an overall solid performance and made an excellent strip and fumble recovery on rookie Christian McCaffrey. However, corner isn't a position normally targeted in IDP leagues unless you have to start one. If you do have to start one, Robinson figures to get a lot of volume and could be a spot play if you were in a pinch with injuries or a bye later on in the season.

Rashard Robinson makes interception in preseason opener

Rashard Robinson played a couple of series in the first preseason game, logging two tackles, a pass breakup and an interception.

Fantasy Impact

Robinson, who is locked in as the team's number one corner, was targeted early and often. He looked lost at times giving up a few big plays- the first was on the first play of the game. He managed to redeem himself with the interception and 30-yard return that set up the first points of the night for San Francisco. The interception came on an errant throw caused by pressure from Solomon Thomas. Overall, his performance was solid but he has some work to do if he is going to see opposing teams' number one receiver week in and week out. If the 49ers' front seven can get pressure, Robinson is the type of corner this system needs- big and physical. Normally corner isn't a position to target in IDP but with teams figuring to target the 49ers secondary, he could be a capable fill-in for deeper IDP leagues, but nothing more.

Rashard Robinson carries several red flags

While Rashard Robinson's talent has rarely been questioned through his college career, he's only played in 18 games over his career, including eight starts, due to suspensions. As a result, he will be scrutinized due to these previous character issues, and his draft prospects could take a hit as a result.

Fantasy Impact

Robinson has great size and speed for the position, carrying the potential to handle outside coverage in the NFL. That's the good. The character issues are a major concern, leading to a lack of game film at the collegiate level. He's currently projected to go in the later rounds of the draft and could wind up a steal considering his outlook.
