New Orleans Saints linebacker Pete Werner is inactive for Monday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
Werner was back at practice this week, albeit in a limited fashion, so there was some hope that he would be able to make his return tonight. Werner has been an LB1 option when healthy. Kaden Elliss will get another start in his place and offers LB1 upside. Elliss has been an IDP stud with Werner sidelined and should continue to roll on Monday night.
The New Orleans Saints have selected LB Pete Werner with the No. 60 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact
The senior linebacker out of Ohio State gets the opportunity to play alongside Saints' Pro-Bowl linebacker DeMario Davis, bringing quite a bit of experience with 35 starts for the Buckeyes. Werner led the team with 54 tackles in 2020, finishing his collegiate career with 185 tackles, 16 TFLs, and four sacks. He will be a great asset for New Orleans to develop into a middle linebacker, with sure tackling and deceptive speed in open space.
