Michael Johnson
DE -
Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of the game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson suffered a knee injury late in the first quarter. The extent of his injury is not yet known.
Michael Johnson (back) is listed as doubtful for Week 11 against the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
Johnson isn't "lighting up" the stat sheet this season, as he only has two sacks to date. He has been a good veteran presence on the defensive line however, so his absence won't go unnoticed. Cincinnati will also be without their best defensive back Adam Jones, making this matchup much easier for Carson Palmer. Consider Johnson questionable for Week 12.
Michael Johnson recorded four tackles and one sack against the Chiefs this Sunday. This was Johnson's first sack of the season, and hopefully not the last. The seventh year defensive end is trying to get back to his 11.5 sacks that he had in 2012 with the Bengals before leaving for Tampa Bay for the 2014 season.
Fantasy Impact
The Bengals defensive line has been dominant this season so far. Most of the work has been coming from defensive tackle Geno Atkins and defensive end Carlos Dunlap, but this game's dominance came from Michael Johnson and veteran defensive tackle Domata Peko. Peko also recorded his first two sacks of the season in this game against a weak Kansas City offensive line. This defensive line has been producing and it will continue to if every player on the line continues to pull their weight. Look for Johnson to continue his new sack trend.
Cincinnati Bengals DE Michael Johnson was carted off the practice field Sunday with what's been diagnosed as a sprained MCL. Head coach Marvin Lewis told reporters that Johnson was "OK."
Fantasy Impact
Johnson walked under his own power before being taken off by a cart as a precaution. He could still be ready for the start of the regular season. Johnson broke out in 2012, totaling 11.5 sacks. He's only had 7.5 combined sacks over the past two seasons, but assuming he's healthy he could be an IDP target to monitor.
Michael Johnson has shared an injury plagued season with many of his fellow teammates but when he has been healthy, he's been a force. He showed his ability again on Sunday when he came up with a huge strip sack of none other than Aaron Rodgers. He also helped lead the Buccaneers defense to a decent showing against the potent Green Bay offense.
Fantasy Impact
If Michael Johnson had not been hurt throughout the season, especially in the beginning, he might have had a great fantasy season. Fantasy owners should keep him on their radars for next season since the Buccaneers should improve as a whole.
