Matt Spaeth released by Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released TE Matt Spaeth (knee) with a failed physical designation.

Fantasy Impact

Matt Spaeth was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday after nine seasons with the club. Spaeth was a career backup to the recently retired Heath Miller who was primarily used in blocking assignments. Spaeth may have to wait until the regular season begins and the injury bug rears its ugly head before landing with a new team

Steelers give TE Matt Spaeth a two-year contract

The Steelers have retained Matt Spaeth for another 2 years at Tight End behind Heath Miller.

Fantasy Impact

Spaeth, 32 years young is a blocking Tight End with 0 fantasy value for himself but he helps Le'Veon Bell's already proven running game. This shouldn't effect Heath Miller's value as he remains the primary pass catching tight end for now.
