Matt Schaub
QB -
Week 17 Outlook
Availability
Falcons QB Matt Schaub completed 39-of-52 passes for 460 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Seahawks.
Fantasy Impact
Playing for Matt Ryan, who was inactive with an ankle injury, Schaub balled out, nearly throwing for 500 yards and a touchdown. If Ryan misses more time, Schaub will be a solid option in fantasy. However, with Atlanta entering their bye in Week 9, there is a good chance Ryan is back for Week 10.
Falcons QB Matt Schaub completed 6-of-6 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 7 loss to the Rams.
Fantasy Impact
Schaub played well in relief of Matt Ryan, who exited the game with an ankle injury. If Ryan is held out in Week 8, Schaub would draw the start against the Seahawks. Considering Schaub's tenure in the NFL, he should be able to weather the storm for Falcons' fantasy assets in a scenario where Ryan is out.
Falcons QB Matt Schaub completed 12-of-19 passes for 172 yards in Thursday night's preseason loss to Miami.
Fantasy Impact
Schub had a solid showing against the Dolphins despite not throwing a touchdown. With Matt Ryan's job on lockdown, Schaub will once again open the year as the QB2.
The Falcons and Matt Schaub have agreed to a two-year contract extension, according to Adam Schefter.
Fantasy Impact
Schaub has attempted 10 passes over the past three seasons, so this news obviously has no real relevancy to fantasy owners. But Schaub will continue to back up Matt Ryan in Atlanta and, should Ryan sustain an injury, Schaub would be an intriguing option at quarterback in light of the Falcons' weapons.
Matt Schaub was a perfect 2-for-2 in the Falcons' preseason opener against Miami. Schaub finished his night with 2 completions for 20 yards.
Fantasy Impact
Schaub holds little fantasy value as a backup, but if something should happen to Matt Ryan then Schaub instantly becomes a viable streaming candidate in a high-powered offense.
