Malik Hooker
S - Dallas Cowboys
Week 13 Outlook
Availability
Malik Hooker and the Cowboys have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $24M.
Fantasy Impact
The new deal will keep him in Dallas through the 2026 season. The 27-year-old safety appeared in 16 games last season, tallying 44 tackles, three interceptions, and one fumble recovery. Hooker will continue to support the secondary of a Dallas’ DST that ranks second in ECR, according to FantasyPros.
Malik Hooker is re-signing with the Cowboys on a two year, $8 million deal.
Fantasy Impact
Hooker was a good addition for the Dallas defense after spending his first four seasons in Indianapolis. He will be a solid contributor for one of last year’s best defensive units.
Former Indianapolis Colts safety Malik Hooker has signed with the Dallas Cowboys per Adam Schefter. He was a first-round draft choice out of The Ohio State University back in 2017.
Fantasy Impact
Hooker is coming off of a torn Achilles tendon, which limited him to just two games last season. Injuries have plagued the former first-rounder throughout his career as he's played in just 36 games over the last four years. He's still just 25-years-old and was healthy enough to pass all of his medical tests with the Cowboys. This is a savvy, low-risk signing by Dallas. Hooker should compete for a starting role in the defensive backfield.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, following a second visit, the Cowboys are expected to sign S Malik Hooker assuming medicals check out.
Fantasy Impact
Hooker, 25-years old, is finally seemingly healthy enough for a team to sign him. Following only two games played due to an Achilles tear in 2020, the Colts parted ways with the former first round pick who had spent his entire career in Indianapolis since being drafted 15th overall in 2017. The details of the contract are still unknown but Hooker is expected to contend for a starting spot in the secondary which currently includes a safety group of Damontae Kazee, Donovan Wilson, Tyler Cole, Darian Thompson, and Jayron Kearse.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Steelers hosted free-agent S Malik Hooker yesterday.
Fantasy Impact
Hooker, 25-years old, has had several free agent visits including the Cowboys, Dolphins, and most recently Steelers. A former first round pick by the Colts in 2017, Hooker has played well when healthy. Unfortunately, Hooker has struggled to play a full season, most recently suffering an Achilles injury in 2020, after playing only two games for the Colts. Signing Hooker would most likely be a move to add depth for Pittsburgh who already have Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds as starters.
