Week 9 Outlook
Availability
Louis Delmas is out for the season with a torn ACL. It's the right knee, the same knee that he injured in December. He injured it during a non-contact one-on-one drill.
Fantasy Impact
There's plenty of time to see if Walt Aikens can step up and play with the first team. He's been the one to come in for Delmas during training camp. D/ST leaguers don't downgrade the Dolphins just yet.
Louis Delmas injured his knee during a non-contact drill. It's the same knee in which he tore his ACL that ended his season last year. Walt Aikens replaced Delmas in practice.
Fantasy Impact
Safeties Delmas and Reshad Jones were solid starters for the team. While the team is already dealing with injuries to the linebackers, the safety position is an area of least concern for the Dolphins. Don't drop the Miami D/ST in any rankings just yet. Walt Aikens is considered someone who could be a starter, Delmas was just in his way. Stay tuned.
During an interview Reshad Jones claimed that Louis Delmas was well ahead of schedule from his ACL surgery. He said that Delmas was already running and cutting and doing everything with the team. He also joked that Delmas is not human as he is recovering at a great pace.
Fantasy Impact
Louis Delmas' greatest asset is his reliability in the secondary. This frees up Jones to play at a near elite level. If the duo can come back and improve on their past season, then the Dolphins defense should be a great stream defense to start the season and a possible every week start with Suh added into the mix.
Louis Delmas has signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with Dolphins. The six-year vet from Western Michigan is currently rehabbing his right knee (ACL) that he injured back in December. He may not be ready when the season begins, and start the season on the PUP list.
Fantasy Impact
Upon returning, Delmas will return to his starting safety position. The secondary is currently a work in progress for the team. The Dolphins needed to bring back Delmas, a consistent and productive starter. He had started 13 games before the injury, and ended the season with 63 tackles, one sack and one interception that was returned for a touchdown.
This was as expected. The MRI on Monday revealed that Delmas tore the ACL in his right knee. Delmas was a very productive player for the Dolphins this year and will be missed. His status with the team next year remains uncertain.
Fantasy Impact
The team will look to S Jimmy Wilson to replace him for the rest of the season. Wilson will get a bump in the rankings, but we'll have to see how he's used on the field before add him to our starting lineups.
