Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Lirim Hajrullahu was waived by Dallas Tuesday. The move leaves Brett Maher as the team’s only kicker in training camp.
Fantasy Impact
Hajrullahu appeared in four games in 2021 and converted 4-of-5 field goal attempts. The 32-year-old will now look for an opportunity to catch on with another team prior to the regular season.
According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, K Lirim Hajrullahu has consistently been the leading kicker for the Dallas Cowboys in practice.
Fantasy Impact
As of Saturday, August 6 when Gehlken's article was posted, former CFL kicker Hajrullahu was easily leading the way ahead of undrafted rookie kicker Jonathan Garibay. Garibay has struggled so far and, when accounting for all live kicks, "wind-blocked 59-yarders or not," has hit just 27-of-52 attempts, compared to Hajrullahu's rate of 42-of-51. Hajrullahu had brief stints in both Dallas and Carolina last season and looks like the frontrunner in Dallas in 2022 with K Greg Zuerlein out of the picture.
The Dallas Cowboys are signing free-agent K Lirim Hajrullahu, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The 32-year-old CFL veteran made his NFL debut with Dallas last season.
Fantasy Impact
Hajrullahu appeared in four games last season, one with the Cowboys and three with the Carolina Panthers, hitting four out of his five field-goal attempts and all eight extra-point attempts. The two-time CFL East All-Star posted a career average of 83.3% on field goal attempts in Canada and is just one of two kickers on Dallas' roster. Competing alongside undrafted rookie K Jonathan Garibay, whoever emerges as the kicker for the Cowboys will have a lucrative fantasy position with K Greg Zuerlein off the roster. The Cowboys led the NFL in scoring and yards in 2021, providing plenty of kicker scoring opportunities. Still, they attempted the second-most two-point conversions in the NFL, showing that faith is vital in a Dallas kicker.
Pathers K Lirim Hajrullahu made 1-of-2 field goals and his only extra-point trying Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Saints.
Fantasy Impact
With Zane Gonzalez sidelined, Hajrullahu managed the kicking duties for the Panthers on Sunday and totaled four points. He will not last long on the Panthers.
Cowboys kicker Lirim Hajrullahu made all five of his extra point tries but did not attempt a field goal in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
Fantasy Impact
Hajrullahu was elevated from the practice squad this weekend and is filling in for Greg Zuerlein, who is on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Zuerlein could return as early as Week 11 against the Chiefs.
