Koa Misi
LB -
Week 13 Outlook
Availability
The Dolphins have placed Koa Misi on injured reserve. Misi injured his neck two weeks ago and was limited in practice last week but still didn't play against the Titans. Misi has had a hard time staying healthy during his career. This is the second-consecutive year his season has ended this way.
Fantasy Impact
Not a good development for a rush defense that has been giving up rushing yards like Halloween candy. Donald Butler replaced him on Sunday and looks to be the new starter on the strong side.
Koa Misi is tending to a shoulder injury and will miss Thursday night's game versus the Bengals. Donald Butler is likely to replace Misi at strong side linebacker.
Fantasy Impact
The unit is also likely to lose Jelani Jenkins which puts the weak run defense in further jeopardy.
Koa Misi had four combined tackles, three which were solo in a win against the Falcons on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
With the arrival of Kiko Alonso, Koa Misi has moved from middle back to outside linebacker. So while there's better backup options right now, he may be worth watching now that he has moved back to his "natural" position. That is, if he can avoid the annual injury tour he's been taking in recent seasons.
The Dolphins have restructured the contracts of Ndamukong Suh and Koa Misi which will free up around $20 million for the team. Misi accepted less money to stay with the team. NFL teams must match or be below the salary cap by March 9.
Fantasy Impact
The Dolphins have to shore up a lot of holes in the defense. Misi has become an injury liability the last two years which hasn't helped a struggling linebacking corp. The team has more money now to spend and may be able to keep (franchised tagged) Olivier Vernon, or woo someone like Mario Williams who is set to visit the team.
Misi injured his back in Sunday’s game against the Chargers. Rookie Zach Vigil will replace Misi as strong side linebacker.
Fantasy Impact
Misi is fourth on the team with 59 tackles. He was a consistent LB2 for fantasy this year. Kelvin Sheppard is the only starter left in the LB corp. With both Jelani Jenkins and Misi out, Sheppard should be a great IDP starter for the next two weeks.
