K'Lavon Chaisson does not get fifth-year option exercised

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jacksonville Jaguars are declining the fifth-year option of edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson.

Fantasy Impact

After being a top-20 pick out of LSU, Chaisson has seen his playing time dwindle every season, only seeing 18% of the Jaguars' snaps in 2022. Chaisson has just 24 career pressures and exactly one sack each season. Chaisson started zero games in 2022, finding himself further buried down the depth chart as time goes on, so he may have limited opportunity to prove himself in a contract season.

K’Lavon Chaisson signs rookie contract with Jaguars

First-round pick DE/LB K’Lavon Chaisson has agreed to terms on his rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Impact

The LB/DE hybrid had a great 2019 for the LSU Tigers, recording 60 tackles and 6.5 sacks. He’ll join a rebuilding Jaguars team that isn’t expected to win very many games this season. Chaisson is expected to come in and produce immediately as a starting OLB in the Jaguars 3-4 defense. Jacksonville has now signed all 12 of their 2020 draft picks.

K’Lavon Chaisson selected No. 20 by Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected K’Lavon Chaisson with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Impact

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made out like bandits in the first round. They landed C.J. Henderson, the draft's number two corner, at ninth overall, and now land the draft's number two edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson at 20th overall. Chaisson is an explosive speed rusher with good bend and burst who should slide into the starting lineup when Yannick Ngakoue is traded. Chaisson projects as a future DE2 in IDP leagues.
