Week 17 Outlook
Availability
Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee will announce his retirement on April 13.
Fantasy Impact
Scobee, formerly of the Jaguars and Steelers, will sign a one-day contract with Jacksonville on April 13 and announce his retirement. He played 12 seasons in the NFL, 11 with the Jaguars from 2004-2014 and one with the Steelers in 2015, but did not appear in a game in 2016.
The New Orleans Saints have released veteran K Josh Scobee on Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
Two months following the signing of Josh Scobee, the New Orleans Saints released the veteran kicker. Ki Forbath is the only other player at the position on New Orleans' roster, but the team is expected to bring in competition for the starting job.
The New Orleans Saints signed PK Josh Scobee on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Josh Scobee was one of the more consistent kickers in the NFL with Jacksonville up to his trade to Pittsburgh in 2015. He was released following a pair of missed field goals in the fourth quarter in a loss to Baltimore last October. Scobee is not a lock to make the Saints' roster in 2016.
Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Josh Scobee hit on both his field goal attempts in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams, with his longest one from 41 yards outs.
Fantasy Impact
It was a relatively quiet day for Scobee, but the biggest news may be QB Ben Roethlisberger's injury. With Big Ben looking at a lengthy absence, the entire offense may come to a stand-still, limiting Scobee's field goal attempts the next few weeks.
The Steelers acquired K Josh Scobee from the Jaguars. The compensation for Scobee isn't known at this time, but it's expected to be a sixth- or seventh-round pick.
Fantasy Impact
Scobee gets a boost in fantasy relevance by joining the Steelers. While Heinz Field isn't a kicker's paradise, Scobee will now be kicking for a much higher-powered offense in Pittsburgh.
