Week 16 Outlook
Availability
Free-agent and former New Orleans Saints tight end Josh Hill has signed with the Detroit Lions, reuniting with former coach Dan Campbell.
Fantasy Impact
Dan Campbell replaced former Lions head coach Matt Patricia this offseason to spear-head a regime and culture change in the Motor City. Among these changes is the addition of a tight end Campbell coached in New Orleans, Josh Hill. The ninth-year tight end spent his entire career with the Saints prior to his release, as teams continue to deal with the reduced salary cap for the 2021 season. Hill was limited with his involvement in the passing game for New Orleans in 2020 but has 116 receptions for 1,071 yards and 15 touchdowns throughout his career. He is expected to back-up emerging star T.J. Hockenson after the Lions released former tight end Jesse James earlier in the week.
The Saints officially released TE Josh Hill.
Fantasy Impact
Hill had a limited role in the Saints offense, hauling in just eight receptions for 46 yards and one touchdown across 14 games in 2020. He was primarily used as a blocking tight end and clearly behind recently released Jared Cook on the depth chart. Hill will look to latch onto another team this offseason after spending his entire career in New Orleans.
Saints TE Josh Hill caught both of his targets for 14 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's Week 9 win over the Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
Despite his touchdown, Hill remains just a guy on the Saints' tight end depth chart.
Saints TE Josh Hill caught his lone target for a seven-yard gain in Sunday's Week 8 win over Chicago.
Fantasy Impact
Hill is just a guy behind Jared Cook. He is not on the fantasy radar.
Saints TE Josh Hill caught his lone target for a seven-yard gain in Sunday's Week 4 win over the Lions.
Fantasy Impact
Even with Jared Cook sidelined, Hill could not get going in Sunday's win. Hill will return to reserve duties upon Cook's return.
