Josh Ferguson
RB -
Week 16 Outlook
Availability
The Texans have cut running back Josh Ferguson according to Ian Rapaport of the NFL Network.
Fantasy Impact
It looked like Ferguson had a clear shot of making the Texans roster as they needed depth with Lamar Miller done for the season. The 26-year-old should get a look at some point by a team needing depth at RB.
Josh Ferguson rushed four times for 15 yards and caught two passes for an additional 19 yards on Saturday as the Texans beat the Lions in preseason action.
Fantasy Impact
Ferguson spent his first two seasons in the NFL with Indianapolis, serving primarily in a special-teams role, before spending 2018 on the Texans practice squad. It looked like the 26-year-old would have the backup RB role behind Lamar Miller but was pushed down the depth chart with the acquisition of Duke Johnson. Ferguson won't have any fantasy value unless an injury occurs.
Josh Ferguson rushed two times for two yards as the Texans lost to the Packers by a 28-26 score on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Ferguson's spot in the depth chart for the Texans has dropped with the team picking up Duke Johnson. Ferguson looked to see most of the passes out of the backfield and now that role should go to Johnson.
Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson reports Josh Ferguson remains the lead candidate for the Texans' third running back job.
Fantasy Impact
With Lamar Miller and D'onta Foreman having the top two spots secured, there is a battle for the third spot at running back. Ferguson is more known for his special teams ability but can also catch passes which may make him valuable on third downs. Ferguson may end up having value in deeper PPR fantasy leagues.
The Indianapolis Colts re-signed running back Tion Green and waived-injured Josh Ferguson. The third-year back missed much of training camp with a hamstring injury and hurt his groin during the team's second preseason game. If he clears waivers, Ferguson will go to the club's injured reserve.
Fantasy Impact
The Colts' backfield continues to be plagued by injuries. Ferguson has been with Indianapolis for two seasons, rushing 16 times for only 25 yards and catching 23 passes. He's unlikely to be claimed on waivers, so his 2018 season is likely over and deep dynasty value is barely relevant.
