Week 17 Outlook
Availability
After promoting Kerwyn Williams to the active roster in the wake of Andre Ellington's injury, the Cardinals released former Lions tight end Joseph Fauria.
Fantasy Impact
Thanks for stopping by, Joe. Fauria is, on his day, a redzone nightmare at 6"7, but with Jermaine Gresham and Troy Niklas approaching full health and Darren Fells fresh from the best receiving game by a Cardinals tight end since 1989, he was an obvious odd man out.
Detroit Lions' tight end Joseph Fauria was placed on season ending IR this week after suffering an ankle injury Week 14 against Tampa Bay.
Fantasy Impact
Fauria finishes the season with a disappointing six receptions for 74 yards and one score, a year after emerging as one the Lions' red zone threats with seven touch downs on the season. The injury will give more playing time to rookie tight end Eric Ebron down the stretch.
Detroit Lions' tight end Joseph Fauria was given the start ahead of rookie tight end Eric Ebron on Sunday, but quickly exited the game after injuring his ankle on a drive-extending third down reception. He returned to the game after getting his ankle re-taped, caught a 10-yard touchdown and "twerked" to celebrate the score.
Fantasy Impact
The touchdown was Fauria's first this year, after securing seven the previous season. Fauria finished the game with two receptions for 17-yards and the above mentioned "twerk-inducing" score. Despite his red zone skills, Fauria cannot be trusted in fantasy.
The Detroit Lions are starting Joseph Fauria at tight end in Week 14 against Tampa Bay.
Fantasy Impact
Tampa Bay gives up a lot of production to tight ends, so Fauria is worth a look for tight end streamers in desperate need of a spot starter. It appears Eric Ebron has been moved down the depth chart for dropping passes and running back routes. Fauria is 6-foot-7 and will be a decent bet for a red-zone TD.
Lions' tight end Joseph Fauria is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Miami.
Fantasy Impact
None of the Lions' tight ends have been featured in the passing game, and that probably won't change any time soon. However, Fauria has shown he can be useful in the red zone in the past. So if you're in a super deep league, or a league that forces you to own a Lions' tight end, Fauria is the one you want.
