J.J. Nelson
WR -
Week 17 Outlook
Availability
On February 1, 2021 the Colts and J.J. Nelson agreed to a futures/reserve contract. After four seasons with the Cardinals Nelson has bounced around the league with the Raiders, 49ers and Bills, only appearing in two games in the last two seasons.
Fantasy Impact
Nelson will be 29 years old when the new season gets underway, his best seasons were in 2016 and 2017 where racked up a combined 63 receptions for 1076 yards with eight touchdowns. The Colts have a fairly competitive receiving corps, and Nelson appears to be on the downslope of his, so don't expect him to be fantasy relevant this season.
Recently signed 49ers WR J.J. Nelson (knee) has officially been placed on IR and is expected to miss two to four weeks.
Fantasy Impact
Rumors have it that Nelson is likely to be waived after going on IR. The 49ers have unfortunately been decimated by injury at the wide receiver position this offseason, with injuries to Deebo Samuel, Jalen Hurd, and Nelson.
The 49ers are signing free agent WR J.J. Nelson.
Fantasy Impact
The team is also signing Tavon Austin. Both wideouts were brought in for a workout on Thursday and it apparently went well. Donte Moncrief also worked out for San Francisco but isn't getting a deal.
Wide receiver J.J. Nelson was cut by the Oakland Raiders on Thursday and re-signed wide receiver Marcell Ateman.
Fantasy Impact
Nelson has been struggling with injuries this season and has just four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown through five weeks. With the Raiders trading for Zay Jones last week, Nelson found himself expendable in Oakland.
J.J. Nelson made headlines in Week 3 with a 5-4-36-1 stat line seemingly out of nowhere, but he's out Week 4 with an ankle injury.
Fantasy Impact
With Nelson sidelined and no clear No. 1 WR, expect the Raiders to force-feed TE Darren Waller in this contest.
