Week 18 Outlook
Availability
Je'Ron Hamm was elevated from the practice squad, replacing released tight end Anthony Dixon.
Fantasy Impact
This move may be precautionary to protect the depth chart in case Jordan Reed misses any time with his diagnosed MCL strain.
Je'Ron Hamm, who had been released by Washington earlier in the week, rejoined the team on their practice squad.
Fantasy Impact
Hamm also spent time on the practice squad in 2014 and has been brought back to provide insurance for the reeling Redskins' tight end situation. Hamm showed flashes of talent in the preseason but did not make the final 53-man roster.
John Keim on twitter reports that the Redskins have released backup tight end Je'Ron Hamm but there is interest in adding him to their practice squad.
Fantasy Impact
Hamm would only have been relevant if Jordan Reed did not get healthy, and with Reed surviving the preseason, he is the only relevant tight end for Washington at this point.
Je'Ron Hamm caught the only target he saw all game, a 23-yard strike from Colt McCoy during the two minute drill in the first half.
Fantasy Impact
Until Hamm or Chase Dixon start seeing more targets, it's hard to see who will emerge, or if they are just placeholders until Jordan Reed gets back. Regardless, both are getting some playing time in the preseason and making big plays when they do get the ball, which bodes well for whoever ends up seeing the most snaps at tight end.
