Week 17 Outlook
Availability
Detroit Lions FB, Jed Collins, signed with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. Collins played all 16 games last season, blocking in front of Joique Bell and Reggie Bush. The 29 year old RB ran the ball 8 times for 19 yards and added 5 catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Fantasy Impact
Collins played well for the Lions, but provided virtually no fantasy value outside of his blocking. It's unclear who will take his place.
Fullback Jed Collins failed to pick up a fantasy point in Sunday's contest against the Buffalo Bills.
Fantasy Impact
We did not expect much from Collins who entered the game as the third-option in the Detroit Lions backfield, but we did recognize that it was possible that he could pick up some quick fantasy points if he happened to find the end-zone. He didn't. Other than a potential huge-play that went through the fullback's arms during a down-the-field pass, Collins was a non-factor. He finished the day with no touches or yardage gained.
The Detroit Lions are down to three healthy running backs for Week 5's matchup against the Buffalo Bills; Reggie Bush, George Winn and Collins.
Fantasy Impact
While he is never going to be mistaken for a solid flex-play, he could become a sneaky play for fantasy owners who are finding themselves out of any solid options. Collins had 2 receptions for 3 yards and a touchdown in a 24-7 Week 2 loss to the Carolina Panthers. With Joique Bell and Theo Riddick both ruled OUT, Collins has a shot at snagging a goal-line touchdown. He is only recommended in the deepest of leagues or in the direst of circumstances.
