Jason Trusnik
LB -
Week 12 Outlook
Availability
According to the Herald's Barry Jackson, the Dolphins have decided not to re-sign Jason Trusnik. The Jets' David Harris and Tampa's Mason Foster are reportedly on the Dolphins' free agent wish list, so it seems that may make Trusnik expendable.
Fantasy Impact
Prior linebacker signees Philip Wheeler and Dannell Ellerbe haven't produced as well as the team had hoped and Koa Misi's durability is a concern. Expect pivotal changes in the linebacker corps.
Trusnik made his sixth start of the season replacing an injured Jelani Jenkins logging seven tackles (three solo) and defended two passes. He also picked off Tom Brady in the first quarter after the Patriots had entered Dolphins territory, getting the first interception of his career, and the first by a Dolphins linebacker this season.
Fantasy Impact
Trusnik joined fellow linebacker Kelvin Sheppard as a backup who started on Sunday. They performed admirably in the first half helping to hold the Patriots to 14 points, Brady to 82 yards passing and Rob Gronkowski to zero catches. At the start of the second half however, things quickly fell apart. The Patriots dropped 24 unanswered points in the third.
Jason Trusnik is set to replace weakside linebacker Jelani Jenkins who has an injured foot. Jenkins is currently listed as doubtful. Trusnik's last start was against Jacksonville. Earlier in the year he also played middle linebacker in place of Koa Misi. He has 34 tackles for the season.
Fantasy Impact
Can Jenkin's tackle numbers transfer to Trusnik simply because of the position? Maybe - he'll be a starting linebacker, at least on Sunday. He made 10 tackles in the September matchup against the Bills as a sub, so anything is possible.
Jason Trusnik finished the day with two solo tackles and zero assists against the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy Impact
Trusnik has very limited fantasy value. Only rosterable in the deepest of IDP leagues.
Trusnik racked up 10 tackles (five solo) starting in place of Koa Misi (ankle) at middle linebacker.
Fantasy Impact
We mentioned that in a 4-3 Trusnik had a good chance to put up respectable numbers at middle - that's the nature of the position. However, the Bills style of play certainly helped out: Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller rushed for a combined 24 attempts for 93 yards.
