LB James Burgess Jr. has re-signed with the Jets on a one-year deal, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Fantasy Impact
Burgess Jr. started 10 games at MLB for the Jets in 2019 after starting his NFL career in Cleveland in 2017. He recorded a lofty 80 tackles in those 10 games, and he’ll look to bring his hard-nosed style of play back to New York for at least one more season.
James Burgess played well in 22-21 win against the Dolphins, tallying 10 solo tackles, three assisted tackles, one TFL, one pass defended, and one forced fumble.
Fantasy Impact
With all of the injuries the Jets have sustained, Burgess has done a respectable job covering all of the gaps. His per-game tackle total has steadily climbed since his Week 8 debut and may be worth a pick up if you need a linebacker.
Cleveland Browns linebacker James Burgess had a big game against the Chicago Bears in Week 16. He led his team with nine combined tackles, including seven solo stops and a sack. It wasn't enough as the Bears went on to win 20-3.
Fantasy Impact
Burgess has played well since taking over for Jaime Collins, who is out for the year with a knee injury. Burgess has accrued 64 total tackles along with three sacks and a forced fumble. He will finish out the season against the Steelers in Week 17.
Cleveland linebacker James Burgess turned in a career game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11. Burgess finished the game with 16 tackles, including three for a loss and a sack as the Browns lost 19-7.
Fantasy Impact
Burgess is filling in for injured starter Jamie Collins, who will be out for the remainder of the season. He is worth an immediate waiver add in deeper IDP leagues as he should continue to rack up tackles playing in the middle of the Cleveland defense.
