Ian Williams
DT -
Week 12 Outlook
Availability
The San Francisco 49ers announced that T Anthony Davis has been reinstated by the National Football League from the Reserve/Retired List, and subsequently has been added to the team’s 90-man roster. In order to make room on the roster, the team has placed NT Ian Williams on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List.
Fantasy Impact
The 49ers need help on defense and placing Williams on the PUP list doesn't do them any favors. The 49ers should be avoided at all cost. I would rather go without a defense that having to plug in San Francisco's.
The San Francisco 49ers re-sign DT Ian Williams to a five-year deal worth "between $5 million and $6 million" per year according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy Impact
Ian Williams finished 2015 with 67 total tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery with Sam Francisco. The 49ers are in re-building mode with new HC Chip Kelly and this transaction is a step in the right direction for the struggling franchise.
Ian Williams has continued his late season surge, notching five tackles and one assisted tackle.
Fantasy Impact
As DL, Williams is mostly a space eater and a run stuffer. He doesn't get enough pressure as a pass rusher to see him as any sort of threat to break out in fantasy next year. He's been plagued by injury (15 of his 30 career games have been this season, his fifth in the league) so him playing in all 16 games will be a small victory for Williams.
Williams sacked A.J. McCarron in the 49ers' loss to the Bengals. It was his first sack of the season.
Fantasy Impact
Williams chipped in six solo tackles, making him one of the better 49ers to play today. That isn't saying much, and has little fantasy relevance.
Ian Williams is expected to miss a month with a lower leg fracture and is listed as inactive on Sunday for the 49ers.
Fantasy Impact
This is expected, as the 49ers reported earlier this week that Williams suffered a lower leg fracture in the victory against New Orleans. With only seven games left, the 49ers may place Williams on IR for the second consecutive season. He is not a fantasy commodity.
