With Duke Johnson out on Sunday, Howell moved into the backup role at running back for the Texans. The undrafted third-year pro does not have a big enough role in the offense to be worth owning in fantasy.

Howell has mostly played on special teams this season but got an opportunity at running back on Sunday with the team during for offense. David Johnson should be back in Week 15 and Howell will not see enough snaps to be worth grabbing in fantasy.

It looked like Howell might see some action in Week 2 with Duke Johnson out with an injury. The team went exclusively with David Johnson on Sunday and Howell was stuck on special teams once again. Unless David Johnson gets hurt, Howell should be left on the waiver wire.

Buddy Howell rushed 15 times for 84 yards and a touchdown and wasn't targeted in the passing game in the Texans' 30-23 preseason win over the Lions on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

Howell spent the entire 2018 season on Houston's active roster but played just three snaps on offense as he was used mostly on special teams. The 23-year-old has the inside track to make the team once again with a strong preseason but will not be fantasy relevant.
