According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, six-time Pro Bowl DT Gerald McCoy announced he will be retiring from the NFL.

McCoy was drafted in 2010, playing nine seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was elected to three All-Pro teams in four seasons and had career totals of 59.5 sacks and 86 tackles for a loss. McCoy, 35, is calling it a career after 11 seasons across three different teams.

After showing up in great shape and impressing the Raiders during his workout Wednesday, McCoy has found himself a new team. One year after rupturing his quad, he will now compete for a starting job. A low-risk, high-reward addition for the Raiders who have been very active this offseason in improving the depth on their defense.
Cowboys defensive lineman Gerald McCoy was released by the team via injury waiver on Tuesday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reports. McCoy reportedly has an injury waiver on his quad in his contract, making it possible for the team to cut him without owing him any more than the $3 million bonus he already earned. McCoy went down with a quad injury on Monday and was quickly diagnosed with a ruptured right quad tendon.

McCoy was brought in to help the Cowboys rebuild their defensive line for new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, but he'll now be looking for a new team next offseason after spending this year recovering from a ruptured quad. In 2019, McCoy played in 16 games, recording five sacks.
