Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Former Broncos, Ravens, and 49ers linebacker Elvis Dumervil announced he was retiring from the NFL after 12 seasons. The five-time Pro Bowler ends his stellar career with 105.5 sacks, including a league-leading 17 in 2009.
Fantasy Impact
Dumervil's sack totals currently rank 26th in NFL history. In addition to five Pro Bowls, the 2006 fourth-rounder made two All-Pro squads and finishes with 365 tackles, 23 forced fumbles, and 13 recoveries.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the San Francisco 49ers informed pass rusher Elvis Dumervil that they will not pick up his 2018 option.
Fantasy Impact
After one season in San Francisco, the 49ers are moving on from Dumervil. Coming off of decent year for a player who was on the field for a limited amount of snaps, Dumervil still managed 6.5 sacks in 16 games. Even at the ripe age of 34, Dumervil still has some gas left in the tank and should land with a team in need of help getting to the quarterback.
The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have signed OLB Elvis Dumervil.
Fantasy Impact
Although Elvis is on the tail end of his career, he could prove to be a solid pick up for the 49ers who were in the bottom half of the league last year in sacks. The main question will be if he can stay healthy. In 2016, Dumervil tallied three sacks in eight games and started in only three.
Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil is questionable in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dumervil is still recovering from offseason foot surgery. He had limited participation in practice Wednesday and Thursday but did not practice Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Dumervil has been the sack-leader for the Ravens for the past two seasons with 56. The Ravens defense have gotten their share of sacks with Dumervil's absence but there will be an increase in sacks once Dumervil teams back up with Terrell Suggs.
Elvis Dumervil is expected to miss the Ravens' Week 2 contest against the Browns.
Fantasy Impact
Dumervil is reportedly aiming for Week 3 to make his 2016 regular season debut. The Ravens' D/ST will miss Dumervil's pass-rushing ability, but they still provide a solid streaming matchup against a Browns team that underwhelmed Week 1.
