Bills veteran CB E.J. Gaines is opting out of the 2020 season, per GM Brandon Beane.
Fantasy Impact
Gaines started his career in 2014 with the Rams, and has played for both the Bills and the Browns in his six NFL seasons. He’s a become a solid 3rd or 4th corner on a very good Buffalo defense. His presence will certainly be missed but his health and family obviously come first.

A 2014 sixth-round pick out of Missouri, Gaines has had difficulty staying healthy throughout his NFL career. He missed both the 2015 and 2019 seasons due to injury. When healthy, Gaines is a playmaker in the secondary. He was with Buffalo in 2017, and started 11 games for the Bills that year. He then spent 2018 with the Browns, playing six games for them. Gaines will look to regain a full bill of health in Buffalo for the 2020 campaign.

It’s a tough break for Gaines who suffered his second concussion of the season in Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs. It was his first game back after missing the previous two with his first concussion. The Browns filled his roster spot by claiming former Bills cornerback Phillip Gaines off waivers.
