Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Donte Whitner signs a one-year deal with the Redskins to fill-in for injured S David Bruton who went on I.R. for the next eight weeks with a concussion. Whitner, who was cut by the Browns in April, provides an upgrade in stopping the run, which the Redskins desperately need.
Fantasy Impact
Although Whitner is an upgrade, the Redskins DST is one to avoid this week against the Ravens.
The Cleveland Browns released veteran safety Donte Whitner on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Donte Whitner is the latest departure from Cleveland this offseason. Whitner should not have a hard time finding a job. The 10-year veteran played in 14 games in 2015 and finished the year with 81 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and four pass deflections. Whitner will bring experience and leadership along with his solid play to whichever team signs him for 2016.
Donte Whitner did not have a strong close to his 2015 campaign, making just one solo tackle against the Steelers.
Fantasy Impact
Whitner finished the season on a down note, but he was still an extremely productive safety from a fantasy aspect. He was second on his team with 81 tackles and added 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble on the year. He's a definite hold in IDP dynasty leagues.
Donte Whitner led the Browns in tackles in Week 16, making six solo stops in the game.
Fantasy Impact
Whitner is up to 80 combined tackles on the season, behind only Karlos Dansby for the team lead. He will take on the Steelers in Week 17.
Donte Whitner had a solid game in Week 14 against San Francisco. He made three tackles (one solo) and added one sack.
Fantasy Impact
Whitner, when healthy, has been his usual productive self this season. He's logged 69 combined tackles and now has 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 2015.
