DeAndre Levy officially inactive for Week 2

DeAndre Levy officially inactive for Week 2 against the Titans with a quad injury. With Levy out, the Lions are thin at LB.

Fantasy Impact

Titans players receive a boost without their top LB Levy. TE Delanie Walker receives the most boost and is surefire TE1. You can stay away from the Detroit DST with Levy out and a possible shoot out in this game. LB Trevor Whitehead is a solid IDP player with Levy out and 10 total tackles in Week 1.

DeAndre Levy returns to practice

Lions' star linebacker DeAndre Levy missed nearly all of 2015 with a hip injury and, after appearing on the nonfootball injury list at the beginning of training camp, has been activated and returned to practice Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

The Lions should be expected to take things easy bringing Levy back to live action and it's unlikely he'll see time in any preseason games, but this comes as very welcome news to Detroit's defense, as they lost LB Jon Bostic to injury this week and are currently relying on rookie Antwione Williams at weak-side linebacker. While Levy expects to be the same player he was before his injury, IDP fantasy owners should temper their expectations early in the season and look at Levy as a second-tier fantasy linebacker with a very high ceiling.

DeAndre Levy remains sidelined with undisclosed injury

Although Lions' linebacker DeAndre Levy was expected to be healthy for the start of training camp following a labrum (hip) issue that cost him the 2015 season, he hasn't yet practiced with the team this summer. Levy reportedly arrived at camp having already suffered a different off-season injury and was placed on the nonfootball injury list.

Fantasy Impact

After establishing himself as one of the league's best linebackers and an integral part of Detroit defense in 2013 and 2014, Levy's absence was felt last fall, and teammates, as well as fantasy IDP enthusiasts, were looking forward to his return this season. Between new general manager Bob Quinn and standing head coach Jim Caldwell, injury news coming out of the Lions organization has been limited at best and although both Quinn and Caldwell have downplayed the severity of his injury, it's tough not to wonder when we'll see Levy at full speed. Certainly, any fantasy owners drafting at this point in the preseason should pick up the talented Lions' linebacker as an upside-only option.

LB DeAndre Levy expects to be ready for training camp

Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy expects to be full-go for training camp after missing most of last season with a hip injury.

Fantasy Impact

Levy underwent hip surgery in October, giving him plenty of time to recover before the start of training camp. His presence on the weakside should bolster a Lions defense which was exposed at times last season. Assuming he can stay healthy, he makes for a quality LB2 with LB1 upside as a well-rounded linebacker who can tackle as well as force big plays.

The door has been shut of DeAndre Levy's season

In a move that surprises few, the Detroit Lions have placed injured outside linebacker DeAndre Levy (hip) on Injured Reserve, according to Tim Twentyman of detroitlions.com.

Fantasy Impact

After signing a 4-year, $33.75 million contract extension, Levy suffered a hip injury in training camp that took him out of the first four games of the season. He made his 2015 debut against the Arizona Cardinals, where he re-aggravated the injury. Levy had been working hard to return this season, however at 1-7 and with playoff hopes all but annihilated, the Lions decided it was best to shut the 28-year-old down for the remainder of the year. In a corresponding move, Detroit signed linebacker James-Michael Johnson to the empty roster spot. The team will continue to rely on the efforts of linebacker Josh Bynes, who has been a serviceable replacement for Levy all season.
