The Patriots traded DT Davon Godchaux to the Saints for a seventh-round pick.
Fantasy Impact
Godchaux was granted permission to seek a trade last month. He should help a Saints run defense that struggled for most of last season.
The Patriots have given DT Davon Godchaux permission to seek a trade.
Fantasy Impact
Godchaux will be looking to move teams following the coaching change as well as change in defensive scheme. He recorded six pressures and one tackle for loss last season.
DL Davon Godchaux and the New England Patriots agree to a two-year contract extension on Wednesday. The deal is worth up to $21M with $16.5M guaranteed.
Fantasy Impact
Godchaux is now set to remain in the AFC East until he hits free agency in 2027. The 29-year-old defensive tackle has recorded 362 tackles in 103 games shared between the Dolphins and the Patriots throughout his seven-year pro career.
The Patriots and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux have agreed to a two-year extension, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter. The pact pays out $20.8 million, including $17.85 million in guaranteed money.
Fantasy Impact
The extension reportedly creates $1.5 million in cap space for the Patriots, so perhaps this is the precursor to another move. Of course, New England was already up against the cap, so it's also possible that the move was made to offer some general flexibility. Regardless of the reason, New England locks up a key piece of its defensive line for a couple more seasons. Signed away from Miami in 2021, Godchaux amassed 65 tackles and one sack through 17 games (16 starts) last year. He projects to win a Week 1 starting job once again this season.
The Patriots are signing defensive tackle Davon Godchaux to a two-year deal worth up to $16 million. The pact includes $9 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Impact
Bill Belichick isn't slowing down after inking a four-year deal with Jonnu Smith. He opens his wallet once again for Godchaux, who impressed over four years in Miami. He missed most of 2020 due to an injury, but between 2018 and 2019, he started 32 games, making 123 tackles and three sacks. The former fifth-round pick out of LSU evidently did enough to earn a multi-year deal that will make him a starter in New England's strong offense.
