The Washington Redskins release S Dashon Goldson on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Dashon Goldson is a veteran safety who should garner attention from numerous teams, including division rivals New York Giants. Goldson finished his only season in Washington with 110 total tackles and one interception that was returned for a touchdown in Week 10 against the Saints.
Dashon Goldson picked off Drew Brees and returned it for a touchdown in the 47-14 win over New Orleans.
Fantasy Impact
Goldson made Brees pay on a poor route run by his receiver and took it the house. Washington's defense continues to put up the counting numbers every week. Next week they take on Carolina.
Dashon Goldson recorded 10 total tackles, eight of which were solo, in the Redskins 25-19 overtime loss Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Goldson proved to be a tackling machine on Sunday against the high-flying Falcons' offense. Next up is a road tilt against the New York Jets who will be fresh off a bye and trotting out Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, among others.
After being penalized six times for unnecessary roughness in 2013, Dashon Goldson toned down his aggression last year, which lead to a disappointing 2014.
Fantasy Impact
Out of Pro Football Focus' 87 qualifying safeties, Dashon Goldson finished 86th in 2014. Much of that was due to his more reserved, timid playing style last year. Considering he has been issued $252,500 in fines since 2012, it's easy to see why he'd want to turn down his own edginess. However, he's looking to channel his vintage aggression during his current opportunity with the Redskins to redeem himself after two years of poor play in Tampa.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded safety Dashon Goldson to the Washington Redskins for a 2016 sixth-round draft pick.
Fantasy Impact
Goldson started his career with the San Francisco 49ers, being selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and 2012. He then went to Tampa Bay in free agency in 2013, but didn't quite live up to his five-year, $41 million deal. When you factor in that Goldson is 30 years old and has been fined an NFL-high eight times since the beginning of the 2012 season, you have to wonder if the Redskins made the right move taking on his salary, even if a low draft pick was all they needed to acquire him.
