Dannell Ellerbe
LB - FA
2025 Outlook
Availability
Dannell Ellerbe has been medically cleared and as reported before when being put on IR will be released by New Orleans at some point.
Fantasy Impact
LB Ellerbe had never been able to stay healthy consistently since being signed by the Saints. When he was healthy he was a good IDP player for fantasy. There are a few teams that could give him another shot so fantasy owners should pay attention to where he lands. But know that holding onto or acquiring him does come with injury risks.
Updating LB Dannell Ellerbe (foot) being placed on I.R. He will be released after he recovers from his minor foot injury per ESPN's Mike Triplett.
Fantasy Impact
After he is released he could garner interest from some teams needing linebacker depth. The odds are going forward he won't surface with a major role in 2017. The former trendy linebacker may have concluded his fantasy relevancy. Feel free to drop him from fantasy rosters.
Saints LB Dannell Ellerbe (foot) has been placed on injured reserve.
Fantasy Impact
Ellerbe has never been able to stay healthy since signing with the Saints. He likely has played his last down in New Orleans. Craig Robertson could find himself at the WLB position as newly signed A.J. Klein has already been reported the likely starter at the MLB position.
The Dolphins and the Saints swapped players: the Dolphins get WR Kenny Stills, and the Saints get LB Dannell Ellerbe and a 2015 third-round draft pick. The Dolphins were going to cut Ellerbe anyway, and they get Stills who is still playing out his rookie contract, meaning he comes cheap. The team saves $5.65 million against the cap by moving Ellerbe. Stills, a 2013 fifth-round pick from Oklahoma only counts $633,613 against the cap.
Fantasy Impact
Is Stills the nail in Mike Wallace's coffin? Stills is a downfield speed receiver, just like Wallace, but cheaper.
A hip injury ends the season for SLB Dannell Ellerbe who has been placed on injured reserve.
Fantasy Impact
Jason Trusnik or Jelani Jenkins are the likely candidates to replace Ellerbe. This will have little affect with the Dolphins as a DST option, but ambitious IDP leaguers should keep an eye on who gets the job - stars often emerge from under the radar at the linebacker spot. Jenkins led the team in tackles coming off the bench Sunday vs the Patriots.
