This Week Outlook
Availability
The Dallas Cowboys and Mike McCarthy have parted ways after both sides could not agree on an contract.
Fantasy Impact
McCarthy will now have a chance to be sought after by other teams, including potentially re-engaging talks with Chicago, who tried to interview him but were not allowed to at the time with Jerry Jones still expressing interest in the coach.
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and the front office are expected to begin discussions toward a new contract following communications on the 2024 season an future plans.
Fantasy Impact
McCarthy and the Cowboys finished under .500 in 2024 (7-10), but the locker room still seemed behind its head coach even when hope seemed lost in Dallas. Previously, Dallas had been coming off of a 36-win, three-year stretch, and though playoff success had been limited, there is reason to believe that a healthier, more balanced version of the Cowboys could continue to be a strong team with McCarthy at the helm. The HC's contract expires on Jan. 14, applying pressure and a deadline on Dallas to get a deal done before McCarthy has the opportunity to explore elsewhere.
The Cowboys D/ST allowed 23 points on 269 total yards with a fumble recovery and six sacks on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
The Cowboys defense were a disappointing unit for much of the season, in part due to injuries. They'll look to bounce back as a unit heading into next year.
The Cowboys D/ST allowed 34 points on 376 total yards.
Fantasy Impact
Dallas did not record a sack or force a turnover. Kenny Pickett started the game and got hurt. Tanner McKee took over and threw two touchdowns. The Cowboys will close out this lost season next week against the Commanders.
The Cowboys D/ST allowed 24 points while forcing two turnovers and logging four sacks in a 26-24 win over the Buccaneers in Week 16.
Fantasy Impact
The Dallas defense made things difficult for Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay offense on Sunday night. They recovered a Rachaad White fumble late in the fourth quarter to put a damper on Tampa's late comeback attempt. Dallas will take on the Eagles on the road in Week 17.
