The Detroit Lions have tendered RB Craig Reynolds, an exclusive-rights free agent, bringing him back for 2024.

Reynolds ran for 179 yards and one TD in 2023, serving as a depth RB for the Lions' already deep RB room. The Lions are also bringing back RB Zonovan Knight, and the two may be competing for the RB3 role in 2024 behind RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. This will be Reynolds' fourth season with the Lions.

Reynolds looked solid in a backup role in the Monday night win, although his lost fumble was a costly one. Reynolds coughed up the ball on a second-and-goal carry from the Las Vegas four-yard line in the third quarter. The Lions will be on bye in Week 9 before they face the Chargers in Week 10. There's a possibility that David Montgomery (ribs) will be able to return to action by then, which would push Reynolds back into the RB3 role in Detroit.

If Montgomery is able to return for Week 8, Reynolds will be relegated to the waiver wire ahead of a Monday night contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.

If active, he's worth streaming consideration but will still play second fiddle to rookie Jahmyr Gibbs.
