Cody Whitehair
OL - Las Vegas Raiders - OUT
Week 11 Outlook
Availability
Cody Whitehair has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Fantasy Impact
Whitehair was unable to practice at all this week due to his ankle injury. He was one of four players ruled out by the Raiders.
The Chicago Bears and Cody Whitehair have come to terms on a five-year $52.5 million extension Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
The deal includes $27.5 million of guaranteed money. This deal will now make Whitehair to have the second-largest guarantee any guard in the NFL has ever received in history. Whitehair will surrender his center duties to James Daniels as he will take over in his new role as offensive guard. The Bears did an excellent job protecting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky last season, so extending an integral piece to their offensive-line was a necessity.
The Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell appeared on 670 The Score's "Mully and Hanley" on Wednesday morning and said that believes rookie Cody Whitehair will draw the start at center over veteran Ted Larsen.
Fantasy Impact
Whitehair is listed with the second-team depth chart behind Larsen. Larsen took the bulk of the snaps at center once Hroniss Grasu went down. Whitehair has seen time there in camp and in the preseason opener. It should be interesting to see how this plays out. I'd put Whitehair out there between Josh Sitton and Kyle Long, that is a heck of an interior.
The Bears traded back to the 49th pick and then back again to the 56th pick before selecting guard Cody Whitehair.
Fantasy Impact
This was not a sexy pick, but a good one. Winning starts in the trenches and Whitehair gives the Bears great depth and versatility. He played both guard and right tackle at Kansas State. He will not make an immediate impact, but instantly improves the Bears' offensive line unit.
