Chris Culliver, activated from the PUP list returned to active practice this week. Culliver tore his ACL and MCL ligaments in his right knee last Thanksgiving Day. He told reporters that he was going to play this Sunday against the Chargers. However, the team may take their time bringing him along, and a decision hasn't been made. "Obviously we need more capable corners," said Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. "If Chris is ready, he's going to play. We've only got really four healthy guys; you need probably five or six to play a season. Having a corner like Culliver come up who has played at a high level helps you. It allows us to have more flexibility."
Fantasy Impact
The Dolphins defense, and especially the secondary need all the help they can get. The unit has also missed rookie Xavien Howard who has also been out with a knee injury, but who may return next week.
The Miami Dolphins are signing CB Chris Culliver to a 1-year deal that can be worth up to $5M.
Fantasy Impact
Last year with the Redskins Culliver played six games and had 13 tackles. Culliver does not seem to be anything more than a nickel corner at best. This does help Dolphins a bit but not enough to move them up or down your draft board.
Veteran CB Chris Culliver was released by the Redskins on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Culliver only played in six games last season due to injuries. Now that the team has Josh Norman, Culliver and the four-year, $32 million contract he signed last March had to go in order to save money. Bashaud Breeland and Josh Norman will start at cornerback, with Greg Toler and third-round rookie Kendall Fuller likely coming in on sub-packages. Culliver, 27, has shown that he's worth an NFL starting job and it won't take too long before numerous teams start reaching out to him.
The Washington Redskins have released veteran CB Chris Culliver on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Following Washington's blockbuster signing of Josh Norman, Chris Culliver became expendable and on Monday, was released.Culliver played in only six games during his only year with the Redskins due to a severe ACL and MCL injury that occurred last November. The veteran corner will likely find a suitor in time for the preseason.
Chris Culliver has served his one game suspension and will make his return Thursday night against the Giants. To make room on the roster, Washington announced on Monday that CB David Amerson had been waived.
Fantasy Impact
Culliver re-enters a Washington secondary that has played well during the first two weeks of the season. While they have yet to force a turnover, they have surrendered an average of just 188 passing yards per game to opposing offenses while dealing with injuries and suspensions to several key players. He is slated to return to the starting CB position opposite of DeAngelo Hall. Culliver nearly missed an interception in Week 1, and is looking to improve upon last season's career high four INT's.
