Week 12 Outlook
Availability
ESPN's Field Yates is reporting the New Orleans Saints have released WR Brandon Coleman with a failed physical designation on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Following three seasons with the Saints -- he's never missed a game -- Coleman opened camp on the PUP list with an undisclosed injury and was ultimately released ahead of the team's preseason Week 1 matchup. However, all may not be lost as Saints HC Sean Payton told reporters that when fully healed, the 26-year-old wideout could potentially return to the team. With Coleman out of the mix, the Saints WR depth chart will begin to take shape. Expect to see Michael Thomas, Cameron Meredith and Ted Ginn featured, with rookie Tre'quan Smith and Michael Floyd rounding out the back-end.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that wide receiver Brandon Coleman has re-signed with the Saints.
Fantasy Impact
He was a non-tendered restricted free agent, so this is odd considering the Saints now have Coleman, Willie Snead, and Cameron Meredith competing for one spot. Meredith was paid the most and should be considered the favorite to win the job, but the Saints all of a sudden have a bevy of wide receivers on the roster. It's no guarantee that Coleman even makes the roster at this point, so feel free to ignore in standard leagues.
Brandon Coleman caught three of his five targets for just 20 yards in the Saints' Week 15 win over the Jets. He also lost two fumbles.
Fantasy Impact
Coleman had a chance to earn more playing time with Ted Ginn Jr. inactive for this contest, but failed to capitalize. The coaching staff will not likely be too keen to increase Coleman's involvement in the offense after his two fumbles, so he can safely be left on the bench or dropped heading into Week 16 for the championship week of most fantasy leagues.
Brandon Coleman caught just one of two targets for six yards on Sunday against the Redskins.
Fantasy Impact
Considering that Drew Brees finally let loose in the passing game, Coleman's effort was disappointing. He's topped two receptions or 54 yards receiving just once this season, and it not a viable fantasy play.
Brandon Coleman caught one pass for 30 yards on four targets in Week 10.
Fantasy Impact
Coleman is the third or even fourth wide receiver option moving forward in New Orleans. If you are in a deep league he may be a Flex play, but in most leagues he is best left on the waiver wire.
