Week 12 Outlook
Availability
B.J. Daniels threw for 45 yards and 1 touchdown on 6-for-14 passing in Seattle's victory Thursday night against the Raiders.
Fantasy Impact
Daniels is looking to stick on the Seahawks roster anyway he can. Earlier this year, Daniels was being used as a wide receiver. With the final day of cuts looming, Daniels appears to be safe. However, he does not appear to be much of a fantasy asset.
Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevel confirmed that QB/WR B.J. Daniels would be working exclusively as a wide receiver for the rest of the offseason.
Fantasy Impact
Daniels ran a 4.63, and jumped 32 1/2 inches at his pro day, and hasn't caught a pass at the collegiate or pro level, his odds of making the roster are slim to none, and his odds of fantasy relevance are infinitesimal. With undrafted free agent R.J. Archer is the only QB left on the 90 man roster, look for the Seahawks to bring in a veteran option to back up Russell Wilson.
According to Seattle Times beat writer Jason Jenks, B.J. Daniels spent Seattle's first OTA at QB and did not look good, tossing an interception.
Fantasy Impact
Daniels has worked as a WR and a punt returner previously, but with Tyler Lockett manning both return roles, Daniels is going to have to make the team as a QB. Jenks stated that the Seahawks would possibly try and bring back veteran backup Tarvaris Jackson. Daniels has zero fantasy value, but should something happen to Russell Wilson, all signs point to a massive drop-off in QB play for the Seahawks.
With WR Paul Richardson being placed on IR, QB B.J. Daniels has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for the Conference Championship match-up against Green Bay.
Fantasy Impact
Pete Carroll stated that Daniels will not be used as a traditional quarterback, “He’s going to help us in a number of spots. Of course he’s the third quarterback, but we’ll also see this week how he works to fit in on special teams. He’s a backup returner for us, he can play running back and wide receiver as well. He’s been doing that all year." Seahawk fans of a certain age will remember Seneca Wallace catching an important pass in the 2005 NFC Championship game, and there exists a possibility that Daniels may play a similar "slash" role. Due to his late addition, Daniels is not even listed on most daily fantasy sites, but is going to be a stoyline to monitor through the week.
