Week 12 Outlook
Availability
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Atlanta Falcons are losing RB and return man Avery Williams for the 2023 season after he tore his ACL in practice Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Williams was entering his third NFL season after being drafted in the fifth round out of Boise State. Williams has served as the Falcons' return specialist, returning 38 punts and 39 kickoffs in two seasons. Williams also doubled as a rotational cornerback in Year 1 before converting to a rotational running back in 2022, rushing for 109 yards on 22 carries. Williams will miss the 2023 season, and RB Cordarelle Patterson will likely take over Williams' role as the team's main returner.
Avery Williams rushed three times for 16 yards and hauled in both of his targets for 14 yards in the Falcons' Week 16 defeat to the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact
Williams registered a season-high 30 scrimmage yards, largely thanks to the absence of Caleb Huntley. He is still a distant No. 3 option at running back for the Falcons, playing behind Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson. Williams will look to remain involved in the final two weeks of the season, but is completely off the fantasy radar.
Avery Williams rushed three times for 11 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' Week 5 loss to the Buccaneers. He additionally caught both of his targets for 10 yards.
Fantasy Impact
Williams notched his first career touchdown versus an elite Buccaneers defense. Despite the score, he continues to play behind Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley, with Cordarrelle Patterson currently sidelined. As a result, Williams remains off the fantasy radar.
