The Eagles released WR Austin Watkins Jr.
Fantasy Impact
Watkins was one of multiple wide receivers released by the Eagles on Monday ahead of the deadline on Tuesday. He could land back on the practice squad.
The Browns have elevated WR Austin Watkins from their practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game with the Ravens.
Fantasy Impact
Watkins has spent this season on the team’s practice squad, but will get a chance to play Sunday with Marquise Goodwin and David Bell both out for Week 10. Fantasy managers should expect the 25-year-old to likely be used in a depth role if he is active Sunday.
Austin Watkins Jr. has been released by the Cleveland Browns.
Fantasy Impact
Watkins's release is somewhat of a surprise given he led the league in preseason receiving yards. But, he would have been the Browns’ sixth receiver at best, behind the starters, Cedric Tillman and David Bell. He’ll have to hope his play impresses another team enough to give him another shot at a roster spot.
Austin Watkins Jr. caught six of his eight targets for 71 yards in a 17-15 preseason loss to the Commanders on Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Watkins led the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards in the loss. The second-year wideout has had a productive preseason thus far as he caught a touchdown against the Jets last week in the Hall of Fame game. He is part of a crowded depth chart but Watkins is doing his best to carve out a role in the Cleveland offense for the 2023 season.
Austin Watkins Jr. caught both of his targets for 35 yards and one touchdown in a win over the Jets Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Watkins’ 22 yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter gave the Browns the lead and the eventual win. The 25-year-old will look to continue to carve out a role in the preseason in the hopes of making the 53-man roster.
