Week 12 Outlook
Availability
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Antone Smith (knee) will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
Fantasy Impact
Tampa Bay lost yet another running back on Thursday night. Smith, Tampa's fifth rusher of 2016, suffered a knee injury that will end his season. Peyton Barber and Mike James are the only healthy backs on the Buccaneers currently.
Antone Smith was wrongly predicted to be the second back for Chicago on Monday. Instead, that role went to Ka'Deem Carey. Smith saw limited playing time and was only given one carry. He proved himself with that carry by gaining 11 yards.
Fantasy Impact
Antone Smith is not going to see enough opportunities in the Bears' backfield to warrant any fantasy consideration. He has no value in any fantasy formats.
The Falcons have reached an injury settlement with RB Antone Smith and have released him. Smith was a home run hitter for the Falcons last year, but injuries and age have sealed his fate in Atlanta.
Fantasy Impact
The hamstring injury must be worse than expected, and the Falcons aren't going to play around with a near 30 year old back when they have young talent. Smith may find work elsewhere if he gets healthy soon enough.
Antone Smith will not play in the Falcons last preseason game against the Ravens due to his lingering hamstring injury. Rookie Tevin Coleman will likely see most of the work with Devonta Freeman possibly also missing the game with his own hamstring issue.
Fantasy Impact
We hope Smith can be active for week one, but there are no guarantees. Smith should only be owned in really deep PPR leagues as he will likely only see four to five touches a game at most primarily as a pass catcher.
Antone Smith (hamstring) is not expected to play in the Falcons preseason game in Miami on Thursday. Smith suffered the injury in the Falcons first game against the Titans. It is very possible we don't see the home run hitter again until the regular season starts.
Fantasy Impact
Smith was held out of practice again, and I don't expect to see him again until the Falcons opener against the Eagles. Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are just now returning from injuries of their own, so they will dominate the touches for the rest of the preseason just like they will when the regular season rolls around. Smith is only worth a roster spot in very deep PPR leagues.
