According to Adam Schefter, former Seahawks, Giants and Eagles defensive back Walter Thurmond is retiring from the NFL at age 28. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Thurmond received scant interest in free agency this year amid reports he might retire to preserve health, and now it becomes official. Thurmond had a career year last year with the Eagles and could've cashed in as a cornerback/safety hybrid, but decided to hand his cleats up instead.
