Patriots will take 'best player available' in NFL Draft

by Jordan Epp | Patriots Correspondent | Tue, Mar 25th 1:21am EDT

New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf said the team will take a "best player available" approach in the 2025 NFL Draft after they "went for need a little bit too much last year." (Karen Guregian, MassLive)

Fantasy Impact:

Wolf, who is the Patriots' de facto general manager, said the team is "really excited to be able to go into the draft not forced to pick something," believing that the team is not hamstrung to approach a position of need. While the Pats could certainly use some more help on offense, this likely indicates they won't feel a need to shoehorn in a tackle or wide receiver if they feel a better option is available. However, given that New England picks at No. 4 and could potentially see one of the top talents (like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter) fall to them if multiple QBs are drafted ahead of them, it's likely no surprise that the team would take a best-player-available approach in that situation. However, if Carter and Hunter are off the board, the Patriots' response will be interesting to monitor.
