Las Vegas Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (thumb, IR) will be evaluated by medical staff this week and could start on Friday if cleared and ready for a return. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

With QB Gardner Minshew II out for the season with a collarbone injury, the stage is once again set for O'Connell to take over the starting role. Before suffering his own injury that landed him on injured reserve, O'Connell had been promoted in favor of Minshew, though that only lasted a short time due to injury. In his one full start in 2024, O'Connell threw 40 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown. If he is not cleared, though, Desmond Ridder could be in line to start.
