Fantasy Impact:
The 49ers are making the decision to put McCaffrey on injured reserve as he continues to recover from lingering calf tightness and Achilles tendinitis. He will be out for the next four weeks at the very least, and it's very possible that the team will choose to sideline him for longer than that depending on how his recovery goes. This is devastating news for fantasy managers of the star running back, as he was the top pick in the majority of leagues prior to the start of the season. His extended absence will open the door for Jordan Mason to be an RB2 on a week-to-week basis and also raises the ceiling for Deebo Samuel, who should see more manufactured touches while the star running back is out.
