Ja'Marr Chase unlikely to reach extension this offseason

by Jordan Epp | Bengals Correspondent | Tue, Jul 23rd 12:58am EDT

The Cincinnati Bengals and WR Ja'Marr Chase are unlikely to come to terms on an extension this offseason, as indicated by team president Mike Brown. (Ben Baby, ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Brown said that "it's not so likely that this is the good time to negotiate" and that "the die has probably been cast." With the Bengals still working things out with Tee Higgins, who will play this season on the franchise tag after the deadline passed, Chase's extension has not likely been the most urgent issue on their table. If Chase reached a deal before Higgins, that would not likely be helpful for Cincinnati's chances of retaining both players. Chase will most likely get a league-leading (or nearly so) deal when it's his turn, but he is still under the organization's control for a few more seasons.
