Dalton Schultz contract extension unlikely before deadline

Adam Schefter reports Dalton Schultz and Cowboys "are not expected to reach agreement" regarding a contract extension before the July 15 deadline for franchise players. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)
Fantasy Impact:
While Dalton Schultz' long-term future with the Cowboys may be uncertain, he will be playing for Dallas in 2022. Schultz is currently going in fantasy drafts as a Top 6 TE and should continue to do so. While his dynasty value is not helped much by this news, Schultz now has even more reason to play exceptionally well in 2022 in pursuit of a long-term deal. The Cowboys will look to Schultz this season to fill Amari Cooper's vacated targets and to step up while Michael Gallup gets healthy.
