Matt Forte retires

by Anthony Cervino | Wed, Feb 28th 12:24pm EST

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting New York Jets RB Matt Forte has announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Forte, 32, is retiring from the NFL after 10 seasons in the league. One of the best dual-threat running backs in the history of the game, Forte will walk away 33rd on the all-time rushing list with 9,796 yards. Since Forte wasn't expected to return to the Jets in 2018, this move isn't an impactful one for the team. With Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire remaining as New York's only reliable rushers, expect the Jets to address the running back position in free agency.
