Second-year receiver Kenbrell Thompkins was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders on Monday after being released by the Patriots, according to the teams official site. Thompkins has struggled with injuries this year and has only been active for two games and posting a total of 6 catches and 53 yards on the season. (Raiders.com)
Fantasy Impact:
As an undrafted rookie free agent for the Patriots last year, Thompkins showed some promise. He finished his rookie campaign with 32 receptions for 466 yards and four touchdowns. With Rod Streater out with an injury, Thompkins might find some playing time although will start out behind James Jones and Andre Holmes on the depth chart. Given the Patriots released him despite their glaring need for playmakers at the receiver position would make one hesitant to think he will have much of an impact this year.
