Will Tye released by Giants

New York Giants beat writer Jordan Raanan is reporting tight end Will Tye has been waived. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Now that Tye is no longer on the team, Evan Engram is in line to open the 2017 season as the team's primary pass-catching tight end. Although veteran Rhett Elison is listed as the unofficial starter, he'll likely make his biggest impact as the Giants' top blocking TE and shouldn't be viewed as a threat to take targets away from Engram in passing situations. From a fantasy perspective, Engram should not be targeted in leagues with less than 12 teams, which is even a stretch. He is nothing more than a TE2 streamer until he proves otherwise.
