The Cleveland Cavaliers are hiring Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson as the franchise’s next head coach.

The two sides are working on a contract that’s expected to be completed soon. The Cavs had been down to Atkinson or Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego. The Cavaliers will have a number of decisions to make this offseason including extending Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, while Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen have been in the middle of trade rumors though most recent reports expect them to keep all four of their core players.
