The Boston Celtics announced today that they have waived guard/forward Zoran Dragic. Dragic, a 6’5†guard/forward, was originally acquired by the Celtics along with a future second round pick and cash considerations from the Miami Heat on July 27, 2015.
Fantasy Impact
This move was expected the day the Celtics traded for Zoran Dragic. Dragic played for the Heat and the Suns last season and played in 16 games and averaged 1.8 points in 4.7 minutes per game over that span. Dragic may end up back overseas if he does not get an invite to a camp during preseason.
Celtics have acquired guard Zoran Dragic from the Heat on Monday. Dragic, alongwith a future second round pick, was swapped for a heavily-protect second round pick in a salary-dumping move for Miami. Dragic could be waived soon.
Fantasy Impact
Dragic, who has been well-known not for his basketball talent but for his relationship to Goran Dragic, won't likely make a Celtics roster that's already stacked with guards. Fantasy owners can ignore him.
Zoran Dragic scored a career-high 22 points with three boards, two dimes, two steals and a three treys in 41 minutes against the Sixers on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
He scored six points in his NBA career up until Wednesday. While we know Zoran Dragic can tear up the international circuit, he won't have fantasy value for a long time.
The Miami Heat recalled Zoran Dragic from their NBA D-League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Fantasy Impact
Dragic has appeared in four games for the Skyforce, including one start, and averaged 16.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.5 steals to push the team to a 3-1 record during his stint. His best game was a 22 point, six assist performance in a 117-108 victory over Grand Rapids on March 6. Dragic has apeared in eight NBA games this season, two of which have been in Miami.
The Miami Heat officially sent guard Zoran Dragic to their NBDL affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Dragic has only played in two games for a total of five minutes since being traded to Miami. Three of the Heat's impact players have been spent time in the D-League (Hassan Whiteside, Tyler Johnson, Henry Walker). Dragic is a rookie and has only played in eight games this season, but played for Unicaja Malaga in Spain last season.
