Although the Philadelphia 76ers dropped to 0-7 on the season, there were a few bright spots. One was the play of backup guard Phil Pressey, who hit on 4-of-6 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. He finished with 11 points in 13 minutes of action.
Fantasy Impact
Pressey scored just six points in 22 minutes over the previous three games. He's only a 33.2 percent career shooter in 129 games. While Pressey had a fine outing on Monday, he's likely not going to see enough playing time to have significant fantasy value.
The Trail Blazers have signed guard Phil Pressey. Pressey played the past two seasons with the Boston Celtics, averaging 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 125 games. The 24-year-old was undrafted after playing at Missouri.
Fantasy Impact
Phil Pressey never really got a chance to get minutes in his two season with the Celtics. He did well in a backup role though which will probably be a similar role that he takes in Portland. Based on the minutes he will more than likely receive, Pressey will not be someone who should be looked at in upcoming fantasy drafts.
Phil Pressey will be on the Celtics' summer league roster, Jay King of MassLive.com reports.
Fantasy Impact
Phil Pressey did not make much of an impression in his sophomore season with the Celtics. He had some opportunities with injuries to make an impact but did very little. He averaged just 3.5 points and 2.3 assists while appearing in 50 games. Pressey will need a strong summer to earn a roster spot for the upcoming season.
The Boston Celtics fell to the Miami Heat on Wednesday to drop to 31-40 on the season. There were a few bright spots, one was the play of Phil Pressey. In 18 minutes of the bench, Pressey shot 4-of-6 from the floor and finished with 11 points. He added 6 assists, 5 rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.
Fantasy Impact
The 11-point effort by Pressey was his season-high. He's averaging only 3.6 points and 2.3 assists, in 12.2 minutes per game on the season. While Pressey had a significant contribution on Wednesday, that has been the exception rather than the norm.
Second-year guard Phil Pressey got his most minutes of the season, playing 13 minutes in a backup ball-handler role. He had five points (including a key fourth-quarter 3-pointer), four assists, and two steals.
Fantasy Impact
With Marcus Smart going down with a severely sprained ankle on Friday night this is an opportunity for Phil Pressey to get more minutes. He probably should not be picked up in standard leagues but should keep an eye on him for deeper leagues.
